Trees are summoning me for an embrace.
Thick-barked tribe folk and elder spirits
Waiting patiently for their brother to arrive
Must wait a bit longer.
All day I have been craving
Hazelnut and chocolate-stuffed beignets and coffee.
And orange, apple, and mango fruit teas
laced with cinnamon.
And marinated tuna cubes
Dipped in a horseradish glaze.
And heirloom vegetables sauted
With turmeric, cumin, and peppers.
It is beginning to rain.
I believe God is telling me not to worry.
These rain clouds will have blown away
By the time I return.
And the timing of all of this
Is out of my hands.
At least for the moment.
Until I give up my surrender
To divine will.
Fortunately, for me
I have no plans to do that.
The forest already knows this
And continues to wait patiently
For my return.
